Churchill To Winnipeg

Churchill was awesome but cold & windy. Now it's a two day train trip to Winnipeg. I took this picture of the train in the afternoon at the station. The train we took up had one sleeper car, this one has four. There's a tour group on this train. We boarded at 7:00 PM that night.
There is a line of lights in the distance. That's a big dam near Gillam Manitoba. It was taken from the trestle just before sunrise.
Here we are in Gillam. I took a couple shots of our train, the Hudson Bay.
Still kinda dark out. Way up North the days are short.
Gillam is a fuel stop so we were there about a half hour.
There's the tank truck fueling the engines.
Bye Gillam!
Not much of a town, really. Of course no roads lead in or out of Gillam. Roads go to the mine or the dam but the train is the lifeline.
These trees are representative of the Boreal Forrest which rings the planet at this latitude.
Barb relaxing in the upper bunk.
Here's the lower bunk.
Here's the station at Dauphin Manitoba. Almost back to Winnipeg now.
Here we are at Portage La Prairie, the last stop before Winnipeg and also where the tour group got off. Next stop Winnipeg again.
